How comfortable and engaged do the students look while they read? I had to share these beautiful pictures.

Book Clubs
For a number of weeks, during Reading Workshop, students met bi-weekly in their assigned book clubs to discuss and analyze the book they were reading.
We recently finished our books. Here are the groups at their last meeting:

The Cool Cats read The Missing Mitten Mystery

The Wild Team Creatures read The Secrets of Droon -
Into the Land of the Lost

Let's Go Mets!

Visiting Shea Stadium and seeing the Mets play was a great experience. Everyone had an extremely enjoyable time.

Going to the Seaport (videos included)

We had such a wondeful time visiting the South Street Seaport. For many of us, it was the first time we went on a ship.
On the ship we were able to observe a variety of living organisms. Thanks to our fabulous tour guide, we learned a lot about life under water.
This is the ship we went on:
Here are some more pictures from our trip:

This is a video of what it was like on the boat:
While we were eating lunch, a school band was playing music outside. Here is a fabulous video of Ramon and Ariel dancing to the music:

Spring Break Sweets
I love to bake and I especially love to bake for our class. Wishing the class a "sweet spring break" we ended the day before vacation with a little cake and conversation.

Visiting the Cloisters

Both third grade classes visited the Cloisters on April 16th and what a great time we had.
Thanks to our wonderful docent, we learned so much about medieval times. This is a video of her introducing us to the unicorn tapestries.
This is when we were waiting to enter the museum.

Here we are looking at different pieces of art

and the plants that create the dyes needed for the tapestries.

We then took a break to look at the beautiful Hudson River.
When our tour was over, we found a nice spot outside
and enjoyed our lunches.

While we were eating, we spotted a trolley with our
class number on it!
Later that day, during extended day, Troy, parent of Troy in Kindergarten, showed us a bass.

What a great day!
